Elsa, Anna and Olaf are coming back. The release date of Frozen 3 has been revealed. The long-awaited third part of the Frozen film will be hitting theatres in 2027. It was earlier reported that the film would release in November 2026 but at D23 the new release date was unveiled.

Frozen 3 begins a two-part story that will continue into Frozen 4, with concept art at D23 teasing Elsa, Anna, and Olaf riding toward a brightly lit, floating city while the shadow of a mysterious horned figure looms behind them.

According to reports, Frozen 3's theatrical release date is now scheduled for November 24, 2027, around Thanksgiving. This follows the release trend of the franchise's previous films as the first Frozen came out on November 27, 2013, and Frozen 2 premiered on November 22, 2019. The gap between Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 will be the shortest yet between the franchise's theatrical instalments.

Will Disney reclaim its top spot at the box office?

Disney has been struggling to maintain dominance at the box office for a while. The studio's position has been considerably altered since the Frozen 2 came out in 2019. The film had grossed $1.45 billion at the box office, however, subsequent Disney releases have not been able to create the same impact.

Disney is now in a position to reclaim the Thanksgiving weekend box office with Moana 2 slated for Thanksgiving 2024, Zootopia 2 in 2025, and now Frozen 3 in 2027.

Given the enormous box office success of these films' predecessors, their enduring popularity, and the significant anticipation for their sequels, all are expected to perform well during their Thanksgiving opening weekends and throughout their longer box office runs.

Inside Out 2's $1.5 billion success has once again proven that the audience is always up for animated sequels when they are done well.

Moana 2, Zootopia 2, and Frozen 3 could all potentially rival or even surpass Inside Out 2's performance at the box office if one keeps in mind the performance of the sequels.
